Laura Lio
Laura Lio (nacida en 1967), originaria de Argentina, vive y trabaja en Madrid desde 1990. Estudió Bellas Artes en Argentina y España. En 2012 completó sus estudios de doctorado con una tesis titulada “Otros arquitectos, cómo y qué construyen”, con el subtítulo: “Artistas y arquitectos contemporáneos cuya obra remite a la construcción animal”.
She is currently involved in interdisciplinary projects in the fields of sculpture, drawings, site-specific installations, artists’ books, poetry and sound. For the past 25 years, she has devoted herself to research and creativity in the field of fine art, with a particular interest in the potential for synergies between image, poetic word and sound. Her interest in sculpture includes her practice in exhibition spaces and in public places, as well as land art and its integration with landscape architecture. A current interest is to work on site-specific installations and projects that poetically respond to the architectural presence and social history of sites.
She has exhibited her works with 18 individual exhibitions in many places, including Madrid, Barcelona, Gijon, Ibiza, Cadiz, Cuenca, Valencia, Paris, Rome, Lisbon and Buenos Aires, and she has participated in more than 70 group exhibitions. throughout Europe, Argentina and China. His works have been presented in a number of international art fairs held in cities such as Madrid, New York, Paris, Buenos Aires and Cologne.
His sculptures and drawings have been placed in museums as well as in public and private art collections. These include the Reina Sofia Museum and the Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art, Conde Duque, in Madrid; the Patio Herreriano contemporary art museum in Valladolid; the Ministry of International Affairs and the National Library of Madrid; the Spanish Ministry of Culture, School of Spanish, Paris; the Caja Madrid Art Collection, Spanish Academy of History, Archeology and Fine Arts, Rome; and with the Circa XX collection of contemporary art.
